    Dear Sir or Madam,
I have a problem in that my Windows XP cannot read m4a or m4v files. I have tried many converters which I downloaded from another computer, but all do not work on my computer because mine is not connected to the internet and all the programs I have tried require access to the internet. I also want a program that is free. What can I do?

Your first problem is Windows XP 7 or 8 is not supposed to read the files. You need a player that does. I suggest iTunes. Winamp will read the m4as. dbPowerAmp will convert m4as to mp3s. I suggest you convert using Lame abr mp3s to the same bit rate if you go that route.

The second problem is your files are probably DRMed so you can't play them because you don't have the proper license even if you have the right software.
