Hi, I have asked this before but none of the answers I got worked so I thought I'd ask again and explain things a bit more this time. Hopefully someone will have had a similar problem and know exactly how to fix it. When I got Ninja Gaiden (back-up) I was curious to see what the "Ninja Tournament" option was (not having the instruction manual to tell me) so I clicked it. To my horror this then did some update thing to my xbox and now it's not working right unless I boot to evoX with the chip on. When I try and turn it on normally to the standard M$ dash the eject light flashes red and green and I get a green "need service" screen. The xbox wasn't even connected to Live as I don't have an account. I've been looking on the net for weeks on ways to repair this and have tried the following (separately), all with no luck: -renamed the xboxdash.xbe file to msxboxdash.xbe -tried formatting and restoring the HD with Slayer 2.5 boot disk. -copied over my original back-up of the C: drive then tried installing evox again. -put in my friends old stock HD with all his original data and no evox etc. -Bought a new 120GB HD (I was going to do this anyway), formatted with Slayer 2.5 then installed all the C: files from my friends HD which works perfect. But none of this has fixied it! Still getting FRAG and the service screen. Evox has worked perfectly throughout this though. I can still get to the M$ dash through evoX but I need to register on Live to download the new PGR2 Paris tracks and a few other goodies. Hence my need for a workin stock dash. So has Ninja Gaiden killed my xbox for use on Live? I thought only M$ themselves could do that when they detect you've got a chip on Live. Is there more to this than just dash problems? Has it corrupted my TSOP, EEPROM or something else critical? Please can someone help! Thanks in advance and apologies for my retardedness and the long post! Lee
I noticed that you said you restored the hard drive from slayers 2.5, on the slayers menu there should be an option to restore the M$ dash try doing only that (not the entire hd) then lock your hard drive (there is an option for that on the slayers disk too) see if that works
your microsoft dash should be called xboxdash.xbe and your evoxdash should be called evoxdash.xbe. Also the hard disk has to be locked to the xbox before it will work with the chip off(use an app called carpet magic) you can tell if its locked from the settings on evox. If it still does not work then your microsoft dashboard may be corupt, download another one.
thanks man but I found out it's a corrupt EEPROM.bin file that's causing my problems however I have no idea where to get a new one. Someone who doesn't care to use Live perhaps? If anyone knows anything on this please let me know. iam_dead@lycos.co.uk Nice one! Lee
