Can anyone help me out here? I've been trying to make DVD covers (inserts) for my backup DVDs but I've only had fair results. Is there a step-by-step guide somewhere on how to create & print DVD inserts. I've tried software, cutting, A4 setting but cannot get a proper size when printing. I've also tried various websites but they either don't work or they ask for money. There must be a simple set of instructions on how to make and print a proper size DVD insert. Thanks for any help, suggestions, ideas or instructions. Regards to all who can help newbies like myself.

Most of the pay software use templates. I guess if your just using plain paper ... start out with legal paper (8 1/2 x 14) and a ruler :) Set your own margins

have you tried using Nero cover designer? if you select the dvd cover option then it will open up yr templates at the bottom of the page you can click between booklet, insert and cd. then all you have to do is open yr pic, if it will not open in Nero cover designer open in paint, edit menu, select all, right click on image, copy, then just paste to the Nero template. all you have to do then is stretch and drag to fit the template exactly print chop and voila one tasty looking insert!

Thanks Dumb Blonde for recommending Nero Cover Designer. I tried to use it but I was not able to load a jpeg photo into the program. Can you please list specific steps to get started? If the program doesn't recognize jpeg files, what format do I need to convert to? Thanks again for your reply. I'm learning so much from you and the great people at this site who can help us beginners.

okay open Nero cover designer
choose dvd option
goto insert tab
right click on template
choose import image, and select your picture
then stretch yr picture to fit the template

also try looking on www.cdcovers.cc
a good free site where you can get backup dvd covers from. you still have to import the image in Nero.
Hope this helps if not get some crayons and start scribbling LOL

Here's where you need to go to download dvd covers. They should print out the right size when saved to the computer.Just make sure to have a good printer with a high dpi or ppi.The website I found to be good id www.cdcovers.cc.

I download my covers from CD Covers DVD section) edit them in Paintshop Pro (height 7.280in width 10.750in) print, trim the page and all is OK. Before printing remember to change page set up to Landscape.

Hope this helps

Hi Tripledro

CD Covers have a free labelling programme (CoverXP) which has a template for single or double DVDcovers and a spine editor.

I have used many times - the only drawback is that the width of the double cover is a few millimetres less than dvd box.

Hope this helps.
