just recently i was playing espn baseball2k4 when i get an error the disc is not an xbox disc the game is brand new no scratches anything so i changed games i put in fight night which is also brand new no luck i try project gotham no luck then i try project gotham again and the xbox ate the game up. it actually dented up my game and now i can't take this game back. the store has told me no, the xbox won't work i've tried every possible game but the weird thing is if i put in a cd it will work or a dvd but it won't read any of my games wassup w/that? if anyone has had this happen before let me know
Yeah.. it seems that your dvd rom drive laser is messed up. search ebay and buy a new one... very easy to install
thats it huh? yeah i see there is a thing called samsung 616t i can't seem to get any good results on where i can buy one without modification. hear they run between 60-80$ everywhere i look is modifed though well thanks for tha info.
hi The 616 is a very good drive, its actually a modded pc dvd drive, in other words theres a bit of modding (in most cases) for you to fit it how you want it in the case, however, the drive reads just about anything! the xbox samsung drive (the original xbox type) is a sdg-605, this reads a lot of media, and is favoured by a lot of people. I find too that if you upload files from the drive to a pc, the upload rate is faster than , say a thompson drive, in my experience it has been anyway. if you got an sdg-605 drive, you dot have to mod it in any way at all, simply take the one you have out, and put the samsung in. Also there are ways to help the dirty disc errors, in some cases, you can tweak the pot on the laser, this is especially good for the philips drive (the thompson is a bit more temperamental ) so if yo uthink your drive is on its way out, or not reading like it should, theres always that option too,Dont over tweak though, it can cause it to be basically useless.
so then instead of doing endless searches on the 616t i should just go w/the 605 and it just plugs in huh?
