I downloaded and play naruto avi's fine on my computer

When I burn it to a cd to play on my liteon lvd 2001 dvd/divx player

the avi screen is to big for my tv by a few cm

The problem is I cannot read the subtitles at the bottom of the screen cause the show seems to be to big for my big screen tv.

The subtitles are in the avi and is not made by another file.

I've tried to shrink the resolution of the avi in virtual dub

    with the divx 5.11 codec

but my liteon lvd 2001 player will not even play these new converted avi
that has had it resolution shrunk.

    I've tried from 640-480 420-360 360-240 and even 636-476

but the divx player won;t play these.

On a side note, I also had to decompress the avi with avi2vcd decompressor then I convert it to lamemp3 codec so that it would be reconized properly by virtual dub

I was hoping you guys could tell me a way to shrink the avi so I can watch it on my tv thru my divx player so that I CAN SEE THe SUBtitles

or can you tell me a way to give the avi top and bottom borders

like its black on top of the show and black on the bottom of the show
where then the avi fits in between these black borders.

any advie will be great as I want to convert all 89episdoes so I can watch it on my bigscreen tv with the subtitles readable.

    Thanks for the help.

you still have the manual ? check the specs needed to play.

your resolution is not a mod 16, that could be one of the problem.

did you know that reencoding will give you crappy videos...:p

i use avisynth to add borders, i'm not sure if vdub can add, but i know it can crop. try searching an external filter for it. if there isn't any built in.
