I have been encoding xvid movies with one of the afterdawn guides called “Copy your DVD to XviD with AC3 surround sound”, this works perfectly every time. I recently formatted my computer, and now when I open a VFAPI .avi file I get this message:

[bold][Couldn’t locate decompressor for format ‘vifp’ (unknown)

VirtualDub requires a video for windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video, DirectShow codecs, such as those used by windows media player, are not suitable.
    [/bold]

I can open any other .avi files. Any help would be much appreciated.
