    http://www.xbconnect.com/

you have to have a computer near your Xbox (usually not a problem) and, if i remember right there is a version of XBC that lets you put it on a modded Xbox and play from the hdd, no computer needed.

    Pop_smith,
it is not xbconnect that can be booted from the hdd. it is Kai/Xlink that can be booted from XBMC (xbox media center). Also, it is possible to get the xbox online wirelessly, you would just the RIGHT kind of game adapter or bridge.

    tjfelt,
both xbconnect and kai/xlink can used with a modded xbox and games off the hdd. Only the games that have the SYSTEM LINK option can be used with kai or xbc. but there are good ones out there like halo and counterstrike. not to mention they both support headsets.

they are both fairly easy to start up too. xbconnect has a very good tut on installing and configuring your router (if needed). if you follow the steps step by step you should be fine.

oh yeah, the best part about xbconnect and kai is that they are both FREE!

If you are already networked via a router then you are pretty much set already. All you need is to download xbc to your pc and creat a login ID and you should be up and playing. One thing though, you most likely need to go into your router settings and open up some ports for xbc to read your box (all this is in the xbc tut).

its easy to use, once you are set up you need to

    1. fire up your xbox
    2. start xbc from the pc
    3. Log in
    4. go to options and "find xbox" (this is only needed to be done once)
    5. in xbc, select whatever game you want to play
    6. Select the sub-arena for that game that you want to join. Or if you want you can start your own
7a. in your xbox, select that same game and start up the system link option for that game. (some games like halo dont call it system link, they just call it multiplayer)
7b. the game should be "looking" for a game
    8. Once the game finds the sub-arena, join the match and Have fun.

sounds like a lot when I list it, but it is actually very easy to do. it is just the setting up that takes some tinkering.

Oh yeah, evox doesnt matter because once your game is selected they all run the same. what dash are you running btw?

One other thing about online gaming, if you are going to game with xbc, you might as well use Kai/Xlink too. it just gives you a second option for free online game play!

also, as far as hdd goes, it doesnt matter what size hdd you have when it comes to online gaming. the hdd is all about storage not performance. The size of your hdd is everyones own personal preference of course.

You can never run games off the hard drive on Xbox Live, no matter what. To run them the chip will be on, then your EEPROM will be banned from XBL. btw, your Xbox is on the way.

There is no need for the starter kit for xbconnect or kai/xlink. all you need to do is install the programs on your pc, network your xbox with your pc, then you are ready to go
