whatever you want to put onto your hdd, you'll need to ftp. Well, games and certain other things can be done through the dvd drive, but emulators, you'll need to ftp. You can run emulators from disc, but you just said you want them on the hdd. So... go to www.xbox-scene.com for complete tutorials on configuring your xbox and pc for ftp. That site will tell you pretty much anything you need to know.

liquid, can you play arcade emulators from a disk on a ps2? Does your ps2 have to be modded for that? and what does ftp mean?

I know there's emulators for ps2, but I'm not sure about arcade emus. And I'd imagine you could play them from disc (I don't have a modded ps2, I'm just using hdloader). But yes, your ps2 will need to be modded to use emulators or read a backup (non official ps2 disc).
And ftp is file transfer protocall. Just a way to transfer files between devices.

The first thing you should do is look around for a few number of roms for the various emulators. MAME Arcade,SNES,Genesis,NEO-GEO,NES and N64 roms can be found with a dillegent search. PS1 titiles need to be created from original cds using a program called CDRwin.
