firmware upgrades

    hey guys. i have a sony dw-u18a dvd burner and was wondering if there was a firmware upgrade so i could then burn disks to make them dual layered. i have searched the net and sony's site but to no evail. anyone no any specific sites which might have one?

    best place I know of for firmware updates is rpc1.org ... also don't think there are any hack firmwares that enable dual layer burning.

    I don't know of any firmware updates yet to convert a burner to dual layer. Also the cost of blank media is almost the same as buying a dvd movie. Not worth the trouble at this time.

    There was a DL hack for the NEC-2500 but it ended up killing quite a few drives.
