Hi Everyone. I have just bought my first xbox and want to fiddle with it already. After searching online, reading several forums and looking at a host of chips, bios's and software, im now more confused than before. I am trying to make my xbox do the following: 1 - Play backed up games which have been recorded onto a seperate DVD 2 - Play backed up movies which have been recorded onto a seperate DVD (region free if possible) 3 - Access personal movies, mp3s, and pictures which are stored on a PC server of a personal network. 4 - Be able to switch off the mod when I want to play xbox live! I have an xbox1.4 and most chips (looking at xecuter 2.3b lite pro) can take care of points 1,2 and 4. I have also found xboxmediacenter which is meant to be able to connect to a pc network. Im really struggling to find out HOW to do all this though. I dont need all the additional functionality of running the xbox as a linux server or hosting sites there, its simply to let me play games on DVD's and watch movies on the TV that are stored on my PC. Has anyone here got this kind of set-up running, and if so, is there a list of step-by-step instructions as to what to do and how to do it? Also, was it pretty simple or a complete nightmare? Any help, guidence or instructions would be massively appreciated. i have got that setup working i don't know of any step by step guide but if you contact me i can walk you through it i spent some time on the xbox media center irc channel and they helped me through it it was actually pretty easy xecuter 2.3b lite pro is a good chip the xbit is also another good chip to take a look at that allows you to do all that stuff
