Hi there nosty10s, Welcome to our forum - Check your PC's Playcontrol - look at the balance control - Can't think of anything that DVD Shrink could have done, it's not set up like that - Pete
Just checked it and it looks fine, Im mostly backing up my sons Barney movies because he looks to use them to toss around the house and I just want to protect my investment, he's only 2 so I thought this would be the best way to fix it, any other ideas?
I would re-rip it again (Do it to an RW so you don't waste a disc.). Are you using the latest DVD Shrink ? Version 3.17 ?
Yes Im using the latest edtion, I tried re-ripping it and it still does it, like I said Im just backing up Barney for my son, and I dont think he can tell the differnce since hes watching it on a old tv, but when I want to back up one of my movies I want to try and fix the problem, any other ideas?
Let's make sure our basics are in order - First, let's make sure we have a good ASPI layer - Start here - http://cd-rw.org/articles/archive/aspisetup.cfm Next go here and download the check ASPI download to ,make sure you're set to go - http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/su...nguage=English+US&filekey=aspichk.exe&sess=no Now, let's check your burner's firmware. Go here to look up your burner's firmware - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php Check you firmware here - (It's called "My Firmware tool" at the bottom of the page) http://flashman.rpc-1.com/ Then we'll try it again and see how we'll do Pete _X_X_X_X_X_[small] The “old man” Pete (ö¿ô) Compaq 8000, Pent IV CPU 2.84GHz, 1024MB RAM, 520GB HD. Okay I tried everything but updating the firmware on the burner, the burner is only about 2 months old, all my sound settings are good I checked them all, I also updated my ASPI layer, thats about it, could it be the media Im using?, Im using Smartbuy 4x?
i dont think the media is causing this problem, but it would be a good idea to switch to better media before you encounter more problems.
Your post above. You post in a different thread. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/103415 Those two post say opposite things and are one reason you should not make multiple threads. Make up your mind what your problem is and you might get some help with the actual problem.
No problem wont happen again, I was doing some reading, could my on-board sound be doing this?, should I but a better card?
Okay now. One of my questions has been answered. Does it play on your computer-Yes Now, do the originals play fine on your stand alone DVD player? If not have you tried cleaner the laser lens? Tried new wire for the left channel? I am focusing on the stand alone player. TC
I guess I must have flunked mind reading. I think you are finally getting to the point where you are trying to tell me that you have your stereo system connected to your computer. Now why couldn't I figure that out from what you had previously posted? Did I guess right? I would suspect a bad audio cable or connectors between the computer and stereo. Just a guess.
Who wants to bet on this one. 1 Are we talking about a stand alone DVD player and a stereo? 2 Are we talking about a computer DVD player and a stereo? Place your bets.
Sorry guys let me try and clear this up for you, No my stero is not connected to my computer, when I play any type of DVD in my computer, I get sound out of both channels, when I play a burnt back up in my Stero Im only getting sound out of my Right speaker, now when I play a orginal DVD in my stero it works perfect?, I hope this help
nosty10s I suspect you might have a problem with your laser's alignment. It would explain your problem. I do have another question - What went on between July 13th and now. Was this problem cured for those 5 1/2 weeks and just came back or has it been going on all this time ?
LOL. Pete, we are talking about "Barney" DVD's. Not LOTR. I'm sure it has only been a nagging problem. Something that begs to be fixed for peace of mind. The permutations are increasing in regards to the sound problem. A few more hardware questions have been answered. I have a few more tho. Is the sound okay when it plays through the TV? Is the TV a stereo model? Is it hooked up to a stereo amp? If so, how? Is the DVD player hooked up to the TV first and then the Stereo amp? By coax cable? Or RCA Cables? If you have a stereo capable TV and are using coax then you should get sound (stereo) put of both speakers. If you are piping the sound from the TV (not the DVD player) to a stereo amp and only using the right channel (default I think) then you are only going to get mono. Everyone feel free to jump on me about this. Been a long time since I engaged in hooking up TV's to sound equipment. TC
(Lol) I was talking about "Barney" - I was looking at the date stamp from July13th when we were chatting about this then a jump in the time/date stamp to August 23. Wondering what happened to the date/time stamp - )
