Sharp moves to mass production for 5-inch, 443ppi, 1080p displays

Sharp moves to mass production for 5-inch, 443ppi, 1080p displays Sharp has announced that it has begun mass production of a new 5-inch, 1080p display that boasts a pixel density of 443ppi.
Manufacturing started last week and will be increased throughout October.

The company also notes that the display will feature a "new pixel design," one that is 30 percent denser than their current 720p displays.

Today's announcement should do little to quell the rumors that HTC is preparing the new Nexus 5 for Google using the Sharp display and other 'superphone' features.

1080p... for a 5" display? Why...? This is a complete waste of time. Sure, it's a great feat of production & a testament to micronization, but who the hell is going to reap ANY benefit to that kind of resolution on that size screen?

I mean, we get complete radical retards walking into traffic (or [deity] drive) with their heads down tapping away to whatever self absorbed social networking circle jerk of the month going on as it is - Now we need to double our efforts of Winnebago Whack-a-mole as these morons study the their new screens with jewelers eyes in their skulls too?

Enough already!

I agree with lordruss, ppi of 443 is beyond what the human eye can appreciate, the first time I saw the iPhone 4 screen I thought it looked sick (and that's low rez at only 326 ppi in comparison), it seems pointless!
