Although I'll be the first to say that statistical data can be slanted to say pretty much anything in favor; there really is no denying that the Android market is steadily matching/overtaking the Apple behemoth.

Granted, I'm in agreeance [with] Gartner - if he is indeed implying that they are open to modifications, design change & the likes that I garnered from the article.

All the more reason I loath proprietary technology to its fullest. The mere thought that it has no room for improvement or enhancement. If that were the case, why would a new model need to be offered each year?

I have a degree in Industrial Design as well & know this to be all too true, but the 'user' has to also be allowed to make it their own adjustments to the device as well. Otherwise, it is still nothing more than a borrowed (pluh) device in said users hands. Forcing them to conform to the ideas of designer, not your original concept of an organic user intuitive, personal physical characteristics (smaller/larger hands) or the actual speed of the user experience.

If form & function was so great on the iphone (if that is what your comment is inferring, not trying to argue) then why do they keep messing up their already tried & true technology going in the phones? Especially when they say we as the end user can't hold a phone correctly? If I were that designer I should be shot rather than draw a paycheck.

One size/color/shape/fits all just doesn't work. It's pretty much why we have changing rooms in the clothing section. Thus, that's why there's an Apple kiosk as well as a much bigger Android one ;)

Not exactly sure what tone I'm to take your comment... I didn't exactly get my degree from the most prestigious of the New York's offerings if that's what you mean. To infer so would be pompous & elitist to such an extreme you could never wipe away the shame.

An education is never wasted, if you knew that you wouldn't have asked. In saying that, I didn't exactly get my degree in Guam either. So foregoing your attempt to say I am without merit given that I am reluctant to state my school; lets just say I'm not applying for a job to 'you' & I'm not in the mood for a pissing contest.

Facts are, I am more than educated in the subtle nuances of design & marketing and your comments are not helping in furthering the discussion.
