Kim Dotcom shows off some features of new Mega

Kim Dotcom has posted a few screenshots of the upcoming Mega filesharing service, showing off some of the most used features.
The site, located at Mega.co.nz, will have a full launch early in the new year.

In his screenshots, Dotcom shows off the encryption key generator, the new registration page, and the file manager.

Mega will use 2048-bit RSA encryption keys, and the file manager seems much more robust than any we have seen to date, including the old Megaupload. The manager includes the ability to donwload and upload (of course), along with a new inbox and contacts section, implying you will be able to write messages or send email-esque mail to other members of Mega.

Neat...I'm sure the FBI will enjoy shutting it down all the more.

Actually this blurb leaves out a lot of the information currently available via other sources. Kim Dotcom hints that sharing may still be part of the new service in this statement:

Quote:
“I believe in our rights to privacy and legal sharing. I intend to protect those rights when governments are acting in the interest of corporations rather than society and progress,” he adds.
We'll likely be waiting until January to find out, but please don't act like you know any more than the rest of us after only reading the post on afterdawn..

oh is that so? From the look of that inbox it seems it would be pretty easy to log-in and share with anybody you like. Basically e-mail with bigger file attachment.
Still a step down in sharing if you ask me. We've evolved much more robust things these days.

I'm sure the legality of the site is not relative to the FBI's desire to raid it. At any rate, knowing Dotcom, the site will likely operate technically illegally.

Hard to say it's a new Zealand domain so new Zealand laws would apply, not USA laws.
