Do you want to convert it to the DVD format, or do you want to convert it so you'd be able to watch it on your DVD standalone?

(meaning you'll convert it to (S)/VCD - most DVDs support only VCD, so you should check if your standalone is SVCD/VCD compatible.)

You need to Author the DVD - ie - split into .VOB files this is the format your DVD player requires. You can burn these onto compatible DVD media using something like Nero.

TmpgEnc make easy to use Authoring software - you only get a 30 day trial though. There is free Authoring software available though if you want it.
