Probably full of shit about the writer not being supported by any third party burner software. I'd guarantee nero will work in it. For 90min cd's you need special hardware as well as software but you could never overburn an 80min cd to 90mins so you'd need that hardware and some 90min cd's.
Thanks dela. I'm going to try to burn one tomorrow using nero 5.5 on a 99 min cd. We will see if it works. Also had another question....I was trying to learn how to do a VCD....totally confused and pretty much gave up on the idea. I know you can download movies off kazaa.....move the file to nero 5.5 in vcr will that do it for me, instead of ripping and encoding and stuff like that?
In some cases that would work. It really depends on the files. Be careful with Tmd and Smr movies because after nero converts them to vcd and burns, you often get a nasty shock when you see how far the audio is out of sync. You should have an mpg encoder of some sort there for backup if needed! Remember though (cause a lot of people forget!) You have to create a new vcd compilation with nero because I have told countless people on these forums that they can't watch a vcd if they just burned the movie as a data disk so, I just thought I'd add that!
Can you please tell what files to look for ie...dvd rip not dvd divx? I usually download the "artist" movieman from kazaa. TMD is too choppy and hard to hear. you can email me if it is easier to help me out at hjcooper@ticon.net

Do not post your email address on this website. Not only does this website not allow that, but it is rather silly, if I may say, as you have no idea who is reading the thread. With regards to Kazza, yes most of the videos which aren't fakes are of a poor quality, if not total fakes. TMD tend to compress their files to about 100M per half movie. With VCD being about 800M per half movie, you can see that the quality won't be great. They are usually Camcorder recordings in the first place. There are some rules for download, this is the wrong place to talk about them, but if I could beg the indulgence of the management: 1 Have a low expectation (low expectations lead to low disappointment) 2 Look for files bigger than 150MB per half movie 3 Try to preview movie before wasting time (usually download for 10/20 minutes, then go to preview, wait a while, as long movies take a while to allow preview function to start) 4 Make sure you have all the DivX codecs 5 Use TMPGEnc to make your VCD if you must, but realise that any downloaded video file is likely to be compressed, therefore tranferring it into another compressed (VCD) format will worsen quality even more. 6 Don't believe a single word of the captions. 7 Don't assume that if plenty of people have it, that it must be the right file 8 Check the filename as well, sometimes you search (for example only) Red Dragon, and it will come up, but the filename could be, say FaceOff. This is obviously a fake download. Rip or DivX question : It depends. If you want to watch it on your PC, DivX is best, as the quality is good and the download quick, whereas conversion into a VCD for, say running on a standalone would be poor. Rip can take longer to download, but the quality will always be better if your intention is to make a VCD out of it.
Sorry to the management, I know these threads should be in appropriate sections but I just thought id add a few things to loadeds rules. 1. NEVER download a file that has a length of 1.02.28 - It is most definetly fake! 2. Get into the habit of sending messages to the users you are downloading from and ask if they're real. 3. If you can't preview movies in kazaa, copy the .dat file and change the copy's extension to .avi. Then open it in VirtualDub. 4. When you get a fake movie, don't delete it, instead change its description and to something like Red Dragon - FAKE DO NOT DOWNLOAD! 5. Always check sharereactor for real files, then search for them in kazaa but make sure the filesizes and names match (Remember that 700mb on edonkey is about 717mb on kazaa!) My apaologies once again to cd-rw.org & the rest of the managment, I agree, questions of this sort should be in the Video Forums!!!
I'll move this thread later when we are finished. There is no need to use the .DAT in virtual dub. Just copy and open with media player (or ZoomPlayer, which I recommend to everone with TV-outs)
