Xbox 360 to get 300 live TV channels after Microsoft scores deal with Time Warner Cable

Microsoft has announced a new deal with Time Warner Cable that will bring 300 live TV channels to the Xbox 360 console as long as you are an Xbox Live Gold member.
Time Warner Cable subscribers can now watch their favorite shows right from the console, "including favorites like AMC, BBC World News, Bravo, Cartoon Network, CNN, Comedy Central, Food Network, HGTV and more."

Making the TV experience different than a standard cable box is the ability to control the channels using your voice thanks to Kinect.

"TWC TV is a significant addition to Xbox 360, bringing our customers their favorite entertainment in one place--enhanced TV experience, games, movies, music, sports and entertainment apps,"
said Blair Westlake, corporate vice president, Media & Entertainment Group at Microsoft. "Our partnership with TWC enhances all that is available on Xbox 360 today, which will we continue expand. We're thrilled to offer TWC TV to U.S. Xbox Live members and Time Warner Cable subscribers."

The TWC TV app will be available for download next month right from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

This article says to me that people have to have TWC subscription to begin with and those who have a xbox 360 who don't have a gold subscription just have to switch inputs to watch cable. By buying the gold membership they don't have to switch inputs but pay additional just for that benefit (and possibly not all of their channels are available). Worthless...

actually not all the great channels will be availible so it is worthless

Xbox... really? Who cares that you are offering this. I can just switch my input from my remote control and watch my cable programming that has those channels.

I bet 120 channels are in Spanish, 90 in Asian, 60 in Indian, and if we are lucky we might have some left over 30 channels that are in English (LifeTime, BET, CNN, TNT, Nickelodeon, etc.) all the channels we don't care about.

I use it with fios. Saves from renting another cable box. $10 in my pocket every month
