I have a bunch of futurama episodes all in xvid format (each episode is another xvid avi file) and I want to create a DVD where I can easily select which episode from the title screen.

Is this possible, and what programs would I need to go about doing this... I looked at TMPGenc (sp?) and tried to convert them to DVD quality, but that was going to make each one around 4.7 GB PER episode.

I need some advice here, any would be helpful. Thanks.

No not possible - you may be able to get them smaller, but your standalone wont play avi, so u need to convert.

4.7GB per episode is overkill. and the max bitrate for dvd is 9800kbps plus the audio's. so if my calculation is right. it shouldn't get that big.

if you want it in xvid (mpeg4) matroska container can do chapters.

guarnibl, I too was experiencing some wierd issues with TMPGenc. It was putting a 700mb avi movie @ 5.6 GB and I couldn't reduce it. (TMPGenc kept it @ 132% of disc size) I installed the software but did not reboot (doh) After restarting, TMPGenc seemed to work fine and I could resize it...

Try re-installing the codecs, (as listed at the top of this Xvid forum) then re-installing TMPGenc.
