do i need a video capture card

    i have a sony digital 8 dcr-trv530 and i want to transfer video and audio to my computer. i am running win xp pro. what do i need.

    if your camera has firewire(sony ilink) output, you will need a firewire(ieee1394) card and connector cable (usually 4 pin to 6 pin).

    If it doesn't you will need an analog video capture device.

    you will also need an application to facilitate the capture. windoze may have built in capture functionality, but if it does - i wouldnt use it. i capture with adobe premier.
