    I've got a 7020 dreambox boot #28
trying to flash a new image and tried via the browser, got as far as select file, and then flash and nothing happens. The screen ramins the same no matter how long I leave.
I tried this with Firefox, and the Google Chrome and the same result. Even disabled the firewall.
Got out the null modem cable which works fine with the laptop and serial/usb converter.
Again got as far as hitting the flash button and after 5 mins or so ERROR and nothing happens.
And now the box will not boot. Has the STOP message and IP and cannot get past that no matter what buttons I press or hold on power up..
Is this for the recycle dump or is there any hope for it ( and me !)
    thanks

clone? if so issue is that you have not the proper bootloader loaded. image is irrelevant if box does not have proper bootloader

Well I used the link you gave me and then discovered that it was for a 7020hd, whereas I have an old 7020. But I found and old image - Darkstar ll from Nabilo and it loaded fine on the serial cable.
Then I tried again to load a Peter Pan image and tried using the browser but nothing happened after selecting the file and clicking Flash - it just diid nothing so the box is working but I would like a different image cos Nabilo server is offline for a long time now.
PEter Pan image gives an error message using the serial cable and that's where my first problem arose.
So all's nearly well - and tyhanks again

that's a bit weird. the fact you can load an image successfully means that its not a browser or a dreamup issue. since it is the old 7020 then I assume that both images have a .img extension. can you check that both images have the same extension, otherwise you are trying to load an invalid filetype

I'm ahead of you there and both are .img
I also have 2 x 500 hd, 1 800 hd, 1 7000, 1 600 pvr, a vu+ duo and a skybox so I am aware of different images and how they are flashed, but you are right - it is strange that I can load one image and not another

and I forgot to mention the NUC box linked to the 3tb drive for all the torrents downloaded on rss feeds. Life can be dull and sometimes a bitch - but then there's always the golf to show how little you can control your balls !!!!

funny had my best golf round of the year today. 42 points of a 16 handicap. not challenging at the masters but a couple of birdies lifted the spirits :) . had my son with me who usually reminds me of my performance, was that a double or triple bogey dad? even he was impressed with his old hacker dad:)

I'm a 25 handicapper - not a real bandit - and out of action for a while with shoulder injury - " shit - I thought this was a satellite chat board someone said "
playing a course that the Irish Open was palyed on in the late 90's early 00's and a member there also. Out Fri at 7:50 for 6 holes " Billy no mates" and played 2 balls per hole. Managed to lose on 3 balls but found and lost one and hope to be back there Monday,
Got the cost down to 425 euro per hole so far..................better next week
