I had a network card that was built into my motherboard but, it died and now i am looking into replacing it, any recommendations?

Pop, how do you know the onboard NIC died? I have not heard of that happening, although, it could be a possibility.
When the network card is enabled in the BIOS, and it turns on (by itself) my computer reboots, (this happened for a day or so, i did NOT change any settings on my computer during that time) but, the minute i disabled the Network card, my computer stopped rebooting (by itself)
That could be a driver problem with the onboard network interface if it is rebooting after startup. I would remove and reinstall the drivers for it before trying to replace it. If it is rebooting before the OS gets loaded then it might be a bad interface but I haven't seen that happen too often. Also check the event log in Windows 2000/XP if you are running that to see if that has any clues to why it is rebooting.
ok, i was running Windows Me (the WORST version of Windows EVER) and i was in the middle of typing an e-mail, it reset, i had upto date Virus defs, and so i scanned the hdd, it didn't get far though cuz, the card kicked in (saw the light come on) and the computer reset, so, i went into the BIOS and disabled the NIC (3Com). =) no more resets, i was able to scan my hdd with the newest virus defs. and found none.
