Apple crushes records with 10 million iPhone 6, 6 Plus sold in first weekend

Apple crushes records with 10 million iPhone 6, 6 Plus sold in first weekend Apple has crushed their own records for launch weekend smartphone sales, confirming 10 million iPhone 6 and 6 Plus being sold over the weekend.
Last year, the company sold 9 million iPhone 5S and 5C, but that included sales in China, which makes the new numbers more impressive.

Also of note, Apple has only included pre-orders and sales that shipped or were sold over the first weekend, so pre-orders from last week that aren't shipping until next month are not included. With those figures included, the numbers were expected to be over 13 million.

"Sales for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus exceeded our expectations for the launch weekend, and we couldn't be happier," said Tim Cook, Apple's CEO. "We would like to thank all of our customers for making this our best launch ever, shattering all previous sell-through records by a large margin. While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhones with greater supply and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible."

The new, larger iPhones will launch in 20 more nations starting this Friday.

So I guess it all just comes down to more / better advertising? I'm going with "yes".

I'm say because I'm one of the minority who absolutely will not own a "smart phone". I don't own one out of morals.

So, because I'm not "tainted", I suppose I can offer a bit more incite as to why so many people jump on the Apple bandwagon. I see more advertising.

Or...........the MORE LIKELY reason being, POPULATION INCREASES EXPONENTIALLY! There are more people on the planet now than 1 year ago so naturally, demand will increase year over year.

And your comment is about one of the most frivolous, meritless and ridiculously unthought out comments I've ever encountered.

Good job tooting your own horn.........NOT!

And I'm in even a greater minority as a network engineer that doesn't own a cell phone at all so according to your lame reasoning......I have even more insight.

So you think advertising has absolutely zero outcome when it comes to helping someone / anyone who has no knowledge on whatever item they're considering buying?

You, sir, have just won the "Most IGNORANT Comment on the Internet" award.

I think I would be correct in assuming that the sales are mostly in the US. Now how can anyone blame Obama ? This would amount to 3 % of the population buying the phone. If you leave out the under 10 year olds, the figure would likely go up to 6 or 7 %. Celebrate ! The US economy is back on track!
