AMD: Microsoft to launch Windows 10 at the end of July

According to chipmaker AMD, Microsoft's heralded launch of Windows 10 will take place at the end of July.
Speaking during the company's recent earnings call, CEO Lisa Su let slip the release time frame, which has generally been acknowledged as "Q3" for the time being.

"With the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching sort of the impact of that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory build-up," said Su.

Microsoft will release Windows 10 in 190 countries and in 111 different languages over the summer but consumers willing to deal with bugs can download the Technical Preview here (you will need to sign up for the Windows Insider Program).

Well if it is the RTM and launch to IT pros in July then it sounds like normal to me as it is usually followed up by a consumer launch in October-November.

The date when the preview version ceases to function is November 15, 2015. My guess is that Microsoft will begin the transition to Windows 10 some time before that date.

I'm rather curious as to whether M$ has truly learned any lessons from Vista/8. Considering M$ seems to follow the "Star Trek syndrome" (versions alternate between terrible and excellent), I certainly hope so.

i have no beef with W10, the technical preview has worked flawlessly on my laptop. its what W8 would have been if MS didn't to a complete 180 before public release.
