Hello, I just got a very bad quality video thats like 320x240 and I would like to encode / convert it to a high quality video with something like 640x480 that has been encoded with Divx or whatever so I can watch it with liitle blurryness and a good size with out losing quality. I know this is possible I download other movies with this kind of quality but I cant seem to make them good myself. Thanks Happyspy
use virtualdub, add filter resize to whatever you want. it will make it bigger but not will make the quality better. as the saying, crap in crap out
I tried using virtualdub but the thing is it says it cant read the file cause there is come sound file that is not readable by commmon windows media player codecs
my bet you're using avi, and i bet the audio must be ac3. google for ac3filter. wait a minute. since the video is crap... get gspot, i think there's one in the software section, and check the audio type.
So you have a video that is 320x240 and poor-quality. Happyspy it doesn't work that way... Have you never heard the expression "one cannot make a silk purse from a sow's ear"? Yes, the presence of AC3 audio could help to explain why the video is crappy (if it's a 700MB file, and the AC3 is 300 or 350MB) LoL You can never improve on the quality of your source! Regards
Just a shot in the dark - what if he applies some filters? Well! the vdo quality will not "improve" but it will be more pleasant to look @? nah?
adding brightness, saturation and hue doesnt always make the output video more appealing, it can sometimes do the opposite. you think the source looks bad now? re-encode it to divx and discover the meaning of piss poor quality video, you lose quality with every conversion no matter what EDIT:. i just noticed your sources resolution "320x240"??!. your not getting tmd/smr re-encodes are you?? =/ _X_X_X_X_X_[small]I'MMM GEEKIN OUT!!!![/small]
Actually, while you cannot make the quality of a piss-poor video better, you can make it appear much smoother/nicer. DivX has what is called [bold]Source Pre-Processing[/bold]. It makes crappy video much easier to watch by clearing up artifacts and smoothing out rough textures. Then, the Post-Processing filter adds a little filmy touch to make it look real again. Give it a shot...but I wouldn't try to raise the resolution, that'll just look crappy.
but your still converting the file to divx which is compressing it even more and is pretty pointless if you want to watch the file thru dvdplayer because your'll have to re-encode again, unless you have a divx player of course. if you want to use real filters i'd suggest u learn how to use avisynth. this is only a filter when decoding divx files, if you just want to watch your file on pc then grab a copy of divx player and watch your file thru it, divx player should be able to play your avi whether its divx or not(so u wont have to re-encode and get even worse distortion) and then you can fiddle around with the post-processing filters which are built into the player itself cheerz
