turn xbox on/off with remote

are there any alternatives for turning your xbox on/off with a remote other than the XIR kit?

 

I saw a couple of interesting articles showing you how to turn off your xbox with the joypad
However if you have evox etc, there is a shutdown option from the menu.

 

yeah i do have evox and can turn it off. i was mostly wonderin if there was somethin to turn it on.

 

From my understanding the remote for the Xbox doesn't even turn off the Xbox. Hopefully someone can verify this but I think it's 99% correct.

 

You can reset usoing the remote, but cant turn it off unless you have evo-x which you then can but you have to go to the back to the dashboard and do it on the menu.

 

What combination resets the Xbox with the remote?
Would the controller work? Now that would be useful!

 

Just worked it out.

To reset the Xbox at any time you hold down 'L','R', 'back' and the 'unmarked black button' simultaneously.

back - next to the start button (Furthermost left)

unmarked black button, next to the white button (Furthermost right).

unfortunately the rest doesnt work with everything, ie some games will go to a blank black screen after a reset attempt
its still real handy though

 

i have evox, is there any way to go back to the main screen while playing a game

 

just hit left and right trigger, start, and back all at the same time.

 

Wont work if he has a game dis in as it will just reset the game and go back to it.

If you are running from the hdd then press that and it will go back to evo-x.

 

The new X3 chip along with the optional IR switch add on will allow total remote on and off. Check team x's site for the details.
