Tired of email

I'm curious about the email you send me. It has an unsubscribe link, but as many times as I use it, I NEVER get unsubscribed.

I sent one NASTY email about this and was told that "you OPTED IN". Yeah, that's right. Once upon a time I did that. But I try to OPT OUT and I get nowhere.

The same person told me that "You are now unsubscribed". I'm sorry again, but that is NOT true. I still get your emails.

WHAT will it take to STOP having your SPAM emailed to me?

Umh, in case you've asked our support guys to unsubscribe you from our weekly newsletter (which btw you can do simply by replying the weekly newsletter with "unsub" in the email subject, exactly like the newsletter instructs you to..), I'm 100% certain they've done so.

In case you wish to remove your whole account from our system, simply state so when emailing to us -- it means that you wont get periodic account updates and you wont be able to use our forums anymore.

I just received another afterdawn newsletter in my email. At the end of it, this is what is says:

To unsubscribe, send a blank email to 'newsletter@afterdawn.com' with subject 'UBSUB'
NOTE! It might take up to 30 days to remove you. And do NOT reply to this message!

I have a tendency to take things literally, at face value, and figured UBSUB was just an AfterDawn "thing".

    I will try unsub

It looks like norm is no longer with us.

Yes, the unsub requests are parsed periodically and once ran, well, now he's gone :)

Ok, now I have a question then, if you unsubscribe to the newsletter does that cancel your membership here as well?

Yes, if you do it by emailing to the unsub mail address -- other option is simply to go to "My Account" tab and click the newsletter off and that is then the only change that happens to your account.

We send the newsletters out once a week and send out the periodic username/pwd emails every now and then, normally every 6months or so. Obviously you might get more emails from us, in case you've subscribed to forum threads, ordered software notifications and get private messages. Totally, I'd estimate that we send out appx. 300,000 - 500,000 emails a month (and got appx. 175,000 reg'd users).

I have the exact opposite problem our friend norm was having. Ever since I changed my email address, I haven't received the wonderful weekly newsletters. I checked all the preferences in the my account settings, I am supposed to be receiving it. I emailed you a while ago, but go no response. I know you guys are really busy over there, but if you could look into it I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

I changed my ISP about a week ago. My e-mail change worked ok. Everything is normal.

IDK what happened. As soon as I changed my email address in my account, I stopped getting them. I don't have any spam-blockers either, so IDK what it could be. Any help from the Admin would be greatly appreciated.

    djscoop,

I checked your account and our server logs and emails have been delivered to your ISP's mail server without error. For instance the previous newsletter was delivered sucessfully:

Thats pretty strange. I just us Outlook Express, which doesn't have any type of email blocker built in. Had no problem receiving them with my hotmail account. Yet I still receive forum updates. Perhaps I should switch back to my hotmail to see if that works?

I guess you could try that. You could also try contacting your ISP to check if they have some server side spam filters installed, and let them know you're having difficulties receiving our newsletter (sent from www2.afterdawn.com, 69.93.65.210)

I actually just received a newsletter, date 8/23/04, at 19:53 EDT. So something must have happened, unless this was intentionally sent just to me. I will wait to see if I get the next newsletter (which is when, bi-weekly??) and if not then call SBC and find out whats going on. Thanks for all the help.
