Is it possiible to patch a pal game to work on an NTSC tv. I have Luigi's Mansion but when I got it I didnt know it was the pal version. On my tv it is black and white and constantly scrolls up the screen.

Same problem here, but I know the reason. This game doesn't support the 60Hz mode, what means that it runs at 50Hz.
This wouldn't be a problem for a PAL-gamecube 'cause he sends (like the name tells) a PAL-signal (PAL supports 50 AND 60 Hz).
    The US-cube sends a NTCS-signal, so it's a 50Hz NTCS-signal because Luigis Mansion doesn't (unlike some other european games)support 60Hz.

And that's the point: afaik is NTCS ONLY 60Hz, so the TV doesn't really know how to "read" the 50Hz NTCS signal :/
I don't know if it's possible to fix that somehow - maybe with a special loader?

Or is the "PAL50mode" (phoenix 2.3) thought to do that? i did never understand the function of that option... hope anyone can tell me.

PS sorry for my bad english ^^'
