Windows 7 and 8 support for Skylake devices extended for another year

Microsoft has said this week that they will continue support for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 on Intel Skylake devices, fully guaranteeing extended support until July 17th, 2018.
After that date, users will still receive some critical updates: "After July 2018, all critical Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 security updates will be addressed for Skylake systems until extended support ends for Windows 7, January 14, 2020 and Windows 8.1 on January 10, 2023."

The update includes PCs and Skylake-embedded devices.

M/S's ORIGINAL support = 2020, NEW support = 2017, Extended (SALE) support = 2018 . . . .
Ohhhhh how Blessed we all feel now due to your "New-Found-Generosity" ! ( SARCASM "OFF" )

My pre-skylake Intel CPU is still faster than all but a few of the skylake processors...does this mean they are cutting off support for me, but keeping it for people who have processors less than half as fast, even when most of their updates have absolutely nothing to do with the CPU architecture?
