Ive just got an xvid which apparently has a corrupt AVI header (click for details) - when I try to run it in gspot. Of course the video will not play in a player either.

when i click i get this message -

This is an ivalid AVI file due to corruption of the data in the header. this is a serious problem, and this file is not likely to be playable.

Details: While processing chunk /RIFF:AVI/LIST:hdrl, found bad length value 3000223232 at file offset 0x000cf30a

This means nothing more than its knakered to me, can anyone help me fix it? i cant find and xvid fixers on the web, any help would be much appreciated!

    Divfix
    http://divfix.maxeline.com/
Or open it with virtualdubmod and save it with 'direct stream copy' after it has repaired the index.

ahhhh - doest work. Have it and it get halfway through and pasks in. I under the beleif that there was a dodgy join of two mpegs which is giving me problems in splting it again.

Back to the original prob in this thread, virtual dub mob cant do anything usful to my file, its getting to point where i probably had to cut my loses. I cant stand doin that though. I know the right data is there"!

LOL - cant open the file in anything at all never mind fix it! ive burried it now. But when its one of those files that isnt rare you dont think its not goin to work. Is there any chance that downloading it can damage the file?

if your downloading off p2p shite like kazaa then yeah of course downloads can become corrupt because your downloading off multiple sources, but your avi was probably corrupt b4 you downloaded it, theres a lotta poorly encoded(re-encoded) files hanging around p2p.
