I am trying to make backups of my newly purchased DVDs of HBO's 'Carnivale'

I am now on disk 2 - it is acting just like disc 1:

Tried DVD Shrink - speend immediatly backs down to like 70/KB/s. Canceled wrote file using DVD Decrypter it raced through like it usually does - no different than any other commmmercial DVD. The opened the file in DVDShrink and the same thing. It took DVD Shrink 18 hours to make a (plays perfectly) backup.

I repeat Disc 2 of the set is doing the same thing.

    Any ideas?

Hello gregcab, Did you check you IDE channel properties in device manager and make sure they are set on dma if available? If they are set to PIO, then that will definitely slow ya down.Later

    I'm set right.
The DVD read to file on my hard drive as quickly as any other DVD. It's the ENCODING that is crazy slow. It doesn't seem like a coincidence - the ONLY 2 disks I have seen this on are 2 disks from the same set and they behave identically.
