I have a My Book 3Tb external hard drive with about 1.8Tb of movies on the drive which all play beautifully on my PC.

The My Book drive is formatted FAT32. My Book drive has folders: Music, Photos, Game and Video. All folders are all recognized and displayed by the PS3. The movies are located in the Video folder of the My Book; the other folders are empty.

When I click "Display All" for the Video folder it says "No Titles"

What gives? Where am I screwed up?

The PS3 can only recognise 1 partition and a maximum sized partition of 2TB.

So if you have 2 partition, the PS3 is only detect the first one.
And if you have a partition larger than 2TB the PS3 will not detect it at all.

This is why the PS3 will not show up any of the files. So if you have space create a 2TB partition on the drive. If not then you'll either have to make some space or connect it to a PC and stream the files when you want to watch them.

OK, thanks. That makes perfect sense. Can you walk me through partitioning the drive so the the 1.8 Tb of .avi files are in the first partition so that the dang PS3 will detect the movies...thanks again.

Is there anything else on the hdd? If so you'll have to back them up somewhere else otherwise you make lose some data.

Also that 1.8Tb of movies is pretty close to the 2tb limit, even though it'll be a 2tb partition a PC will only use around 1953Gb of it due to the conversion.

If you have enough space simply click Start, then Run then type in compmgmt.msc and press enter
from the menu on the left click Disk Management
then right click the drive, and select Shrink volume, make sure you selected the correct drive first.
Set the size you want the partition to be, 2TB here and then press OK or follow the instructions.

This should make the 2tb partition which the ps3 will be able to see, you can then partition the other 1tb to use with your pc for storing other files.
The PS3 will only see the first partition though.

You should lose any data I dont think, been a while since I done this, but read all the tabs and make sure it doesnt say you make lose data anywhere. If it does then you'll need to use something like partition magic or another partition software.

THANX! That sounds fairly simple. Appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge with a Newbie like me. If problems occur, I'll pose a question on the thread. If not, thanks again and Aloha!
