I want to get 5.1 headphones for gaming. I currently use the alc850 onboard sound. Also have a audigy sound card (not installed). How can I utilize the both the onboard and audigy card for speakers + headphones without rebooting constantly?
You can only do that with certain applications, e.g. put skype conversations through the headphones and then music or games through speakers. Why do you need to use both sound cards? What I did is buy a set of Zalman ZM-RS6F headphones (5.1 with a microphone) and then the ZM-RSA amplifier with them. This allows you to make two copies of the 5.1 signal and control the volume of them with two dials.
