    Hi everyone
I've got a stack of RIDATA printable DVD-R that would burn at 8X on a Lite-On drive in one machine but only burns at 4x on a plextor- px708UF(external)drive on another P4 machine. I've got the latest firmware, don't know what else to do?

    thanx in advance

    The 708 can only burn 8X to +R media. It's capped at 4X for -R :)

At the time the drive was released there was no official spec for 8X -R although it makes you wonder why they never released a firmware upgrade for it. It would seem possible - I bought a Sony DRU-500A years back and they released a firmware that bumped the write speeds from 2X up to 4X.
