I recently purchased a toshiba dvd player that says it is capable of playing divx and xvid files.

The main reason why I bought this player was because I was gettin pretty impatient waitin on encoding times from an avi file to a dvd format.

I thought if I just threw my avi file on to a data cd or dvd it would just load up on my dvd player. Also when I reencode a divx file it inflates to like 3x the size. I am trying to put all Back to the Futures on one disc.

Not hard, just encode to ~1485MB's a piece using a HT profile and burn as an ISO data DVD. Should be able to get decent video quality with the original AC3 audio at those kind of bitrates.

Thanks for the reply. My dvd player said it would play divx cds and not divx made dvds. Turns out, when I tried with the cd it didnt work but the dvd did. So I'm happy. Thanks again.
