Yes, the drive you provided the link to should work fine. You need the network adapter because the connector for the hard drive is built into it.

Search some of the threads here for HD Loader to find some dealers that are still selling it. It's extremely simple to use. Simply boot the PS2 with the HD Loader disc, select Install, then insert the original game disc when prompted. Installations take upto 15 minutes depending on the size of the game to be installed. Playing installed games is done by booting with the HD Loader disc, highlighting the installed game and pressing X.

Get it wherever you like but you'll find much better deals on the Internet. Mode 3 refers to one of the 3 modes that HD Loader supports to attempt to get non-compatible games to run. Once a game is installed, if it does not run properly, reboot the HD Loader disc, highlight the game title and press Select to access the Modes menu.

So if I get a HD Loader and not the Free HD Loader than I don't have to worry about putting it on my memory card

    30-40 on a 60 gig Hard Drive
games vary from 0.5 gig for rips
to 2.5 gig for originals (if you remove dummy files)
Select "Delete game" and it's gone
