Adding Hard Drive

    i got a diff hard drive and i want to add it to my computer i try to add it and my computer froze up....

    Check the jumpers. If you're using two hard drives on the same ribbon cable, I strongly suggest setting your boot drive to Master and the second to Slave. Don't use the Cable Select.

    so i sould turn off my computer and add the hard drive and then set it up and then load it?

    Turn the computer off. Unplug the power cord.

    Remove the ribbon cables...look for the jumpers on the primary (boot) drive that's already in there. You might have to remove the drive to see what the jumper settings are as they are on the sticker on the top part of the drive. Set that boot drive to Master. Set your second drive to Slave. Use the far end connector of the ribbon cable for the boot drive and the center connector for the second drive.
