i was wondering, is there a way to import into preimier directly from a DVD? i made the mistake of making a movie dvd to transport a large file across country and now i do not see a useable file on the disc. please any assistance would be appreciated

unfortunatly there is not. DVD's have something called Macrovision on them which will stop you from getting a direct bit for bit stream. Also, once the files are on a DVD they are in .VOB format and not .MPG. You can use a preogram such as DVDDecryptor to rip the files to your hard drive. Then you will have to convert them to .MPG, and you can bring them into Premiere after that. I hope you have a powerful system and about 8000 years to kill doing this though. Premiere is very slow at render and encoding.
