That should give you an idea. I'd say with good parts that are a reasonable cost (such as what you'd get with a $1500 system) you're looking at about 3.4Ghz using an E6600.

    To keep the build simple...

Ima get the E4300 and jump it from 1.8 to 3.0

Fan cool it... with a ton of fans..

And too keep it as light as possible, only one Hdd, and One 5.25' drive.

So over clocking is gunna require good cooling. So..

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3071635&sku=T925-1199

Is that a good cpu fan?

And i was thinking.. why not a acrylic case, since i always wanted one.. plus, well just throw out the elegant idea.

    http://www.xpcgear.com/sbac9bt.html

And... is this a good power supply?

Btw i still appreciate your help guys..
    Thank alot ;)

The CPU Cooler could be better, the Power supply's awful and the case is flawed.
Sorry, that's the negative over with. I'll explain why
The CPU Cooler is from Thermaltake, known for making odd but not that great CPU coolers, some like the Big Typhoon are reasonable, but you will get far better performance from a Zalman CNPS9500 or CNPS9700 and it will still look the part.
I can see why people go for the Apevia PSU with its see throughness and lights, but look at how much free space there is in there! Any decent Power supply has no room whatsoever inside because it's taken up by cooling all the high quality components. Since Apevia Power supplies are cheap rubbish, that's how you can see inside! Avoid. The expense is artificial because of all the case mods they made.
Acrylic cases are cool, although they're always untidy because you can't hide cables anywhere, but you have to keep the weight down or they get easily damaged.

Hey Sam...You forgot the Wonderful Thermal...and Acoustic Qualities of Plexiglas...Oh and I nearly forgot the ease of maintenance...Plexiglas is so forgiving of scratches and finger print smudges..:)ROFL...

Lol that too. Any fan attached to the case will sound like you're drilling through solid concrete.

Ill probably just end up getting a clear case for my older compy...

And as for the case, im just gunna get the black ultra like i wanted.

As for the power supply, thers some nice cheap power supplies with good reviews. It just depends on how many watts ill be needing.

    Thanks agian ;)

yes but you can tell how good a PSU will be by looking at the electronics. The Apevia doesn't look good.

I will inform you guys later, please keep an eye out for my thread, better builds on the 1500-2000 budget would be fantastic.

It depends how desperate you are. The more effort you put in, the more you can achieve! If you're a competent moder, you could always buy a decent Power supply, rip the case off and make your own!
However, for a more down to earth idea, try the blue verson of the Hiper Type-R 580W unit. It looks pretty impressive on its own!

I probably will end up getting it.

Ill probably make another list as to what im going to order tommorow.

    Thanks :D

They're far better made than the Apevia units, I think better looking, and sometimes cheaper!

    The case is your choice.
    The hard drive is fine.
I don't know the performance of the heatsink better look that up.
I don't like the motherboard, for that money you can buy something at least half decent. By getting an E4300, you're telling me you want to overclock, and that motherboard will leave you disappointed. How about a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3?
    Memory's pretty good
As for the case fan, I'd say avoid thermally controlled fans. If you want to choose between high performance and quiet operation, either get a 3pin fan that plugs into the motherboard and use speedfan to control it, or buy a frotn bay fan controller. Thermal controlled ones usually go a bit funny, and at full speed, that fan is going to deafen you. Thermaltake are always very conservative about their fan noise ratings, at full whack that one's going to be about 55dB, that's about the same volume of speech, so you're going to have to raise your voice to talk to people over it.
Go with a Scythe S-Flex 1600rpm fan. They're quiet and they still move a shedload of air.
Ditch the rear-bay cooler, they rarely achieve anything. The best way of cooling your Graphics card is to have a decent side fan in your case. The method of side ventilation in that case isn't that good, so I'd recommend perhaps changing to one that supported a side 120mm fan instead.
hard drive coolers are also usually unnecessary, and noisy. If you want something to cool your hard drives that doesn't blow your face off, try and track down a nexus frisbee.

by H2, do you mean Halo 2? If so, at what resolution and detail?
The current high-end GPU of choice is an 8800GTS 640MB.

    For what $300, or $500?
That's an incredibly tight budget to build a gaming PC for.
I'm going to assume you need a new power suppply unless you tell me what make and rating your old one is.

    E4400 $126 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115014
    GA-965P DS3 $110 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128012
    AC Freezer 7 Pro $35 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134&Tpk=Freezer+7+Pro
    EVGA 7600GT $100 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130017 $20 mail-in rebate
    NZXT Apollo $75 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146028

That's $446 with a $20 mail in rebate to knock it down to $426. That however assumes you already have appropriate RAM (You'll want DDR2 PC6400) and a good PSU.
The GPU is also the minimum I'd say you need to have to run halo 2 well.

Can I also recommend the XP Patch for Halo 2, to save you from needing Vista?

Which 450W PSU? A good power supply is very important.

As for the online play, you couldn't when I got the patch, I don't know whether that's been changed yet or not.

The exact brand is important, a lot of 450W power supplies can only deliver less than 200W before they fail in spectacular fashion.

    Lastmastr: Isn't it obvious? lol
