    Hi Guys

I'm new to the whole process of dvd backups... I'm looking to buy dvd media but I've no idea what to go for... firstly my dvd writer is both + and - but my dvd player is a + recorder.. does this mean I have to backup my dvd's on + discs?? also could you wise old folks take a look at these links and advise which dvds I should go for?

Your dvd recorder can only burn + format. It should be able to play both +/- along with rw's,without knowing the exact brand and model #.Mine plays just about everything, but does has its little quirks.

You probably want to stick with the + so you can use it on both pc and home burners, I am also set up like that. Now I have 4 burners. The plus format plays on all my stand alones,pc drives, and home burner, but i still screw around with the dash format.

After searching that site on the limited brands of media, You should be ok with the ritek printables-go4 and go5's. The tdk 8x's should be ok. I would be very skeptical on the rest of them, especially the ones that said high quality cmc dye-usually pure junk.

There are other members in the dvd-r media threads on the best discs and prices in the UK.Try searching the last several pages there.

    Good Luck
