The Apple tv has wet my appetite for a streaming device.

I'd like to be able to leave my laptop and external hard drive upstairs with all my music, films and photos on and have a device where I can listen, watch and look at them via my tv.

Is there a wireless device that will handle this, playing MP3's, AVI (divx xvid etc) and my jpgs?

    Cheers

Well i've started to answer my own question now.

    This article http://www.itweek.co.uk/personal-computer-world/features/2163465/practical-wireless-streaming
describes using the D-LINK DSM-320RD, which connects to the TV and can play movies, songs and photos, from a DVD, memory card, or wirelessly once it has connected to a PC with a media centre running.

But I want to go one further.
    1) I want the possibility of removing the pc and just have a hard drive.
So we have the D-Link DSM-G600 wireless enclosure
    2) I want the possibility to have a nice radio in the kitchen which can do FM/AM, play MP2's off this hard drive, or internet radio stations.

    3) I don't want to spend the earth on this..

The search for a cheap wireless media network continues
