I've noticed there's DVD-R's and DVD+R's... what is the difference, what advantages do I get out of each one, if there is any?

And my burner (if I ever figure out how to use it) will do "double layer" around 8gigs of burning... what kind of DVD's do I need to buy in order to accomplish this?

You've got a dual layer burner ... which is also dual format. It doesn't matter which you use.

Search the media forum to see which media is the best.

I know ... I've seen it. Have you read the forum rules? No multiposting ... so keep that problem in your other thread. No need to ask in both.
