I have an AMD Athlon machine and wish to add a pioneer 105 to my existing Panasonic DVD-RW. I was told that the pioneer 105 will only run in pentium based machines. Is this true? and will installing another writer cause any problems?

Who told you that? That is absurd and false. I have a A-05 with my athlon 900mhz.

Wow thats wrong. I have an AMD duron 945mhz and it works with my 105. I used the hacked 1.30 firmware and Ritek G03s at 2X and havent had a bad burn.

I used more than 300 DVD-pro gradeA for movies and sometimes for ps2 games with no firmware upgrade.
