    Hello everyone,

I will be leaving soon to a PAL-based country and I am thinking of buying a US slim PS2 beacsue of the price difference. However, I found in this forum a lot of talks about the compatibility issues between the two systems. I made some conclusions however I am not there yet and I need your help.

    Here is what I concluded:

    1) I will need a TV set that supports NTSC, I think this shouldn't be a big deal. Also, I guess there is even a work around that if a TV with NTSC is not available, something I couldn't figure out.

    2) In the US PS2 manual, it says only discs with the NTSC or UC will work on the system, while PAL discs won't work. Is this because of the TV thing or something else???

I will be very grateful if you can help me figure these out as if it is too complicated I will just forget about it.

    Thank you

With a bit of search, I found out a multisystem TV set will do it. Is that true guys?

You need a modded ps2 to play imports. A multistandard tv will help you view the signal on your tv, but a modded ps2 is needed in order to boot up the disc.

Is there a way to buy a modded PS2 directly?

You can just use swap magic, it's like $20. That would allow you to play imports, providing you have a multi-format tv.
