I have recently been trying to make a backup of a dvd which is very dear to me(my copy of the new zepplin dvd actually) but it is too large to shrink with dvd shrink, Is it possible to :-
    A) Remove the special features on disk 1&2 and then create my own special features disk with both sets, or
    B) Shrink the original without losing any sound quality and no too much picture quality???
Any advice would be much appreciated.

too large...how large is it? how have you tried...what did you do? my recommendation is to rip with dvdecryptor then use dvd2one on each set. lose the special features. you'll need vobedit ( very easy to use ) and ifoedit ( not so easy to use ) to join the 2 of them. then run the result through dvd2one again. i have used this procedure many tines and it works. i've backed up ben hur (2 discs, 3 hrs 40 mins). the directors cut of das boot, and a couple of others. each is perfect on my dvd player and a 37" tv.

if you don't care about it being on 2 dvds....then just rip each and run it through dvd2one....fantastic software. while doing the processing do not do Anything else...no emails, surfing....NOTHING!

Yeah, thats fine. Rip the two DVD's to two seperate folders. Don't worry about compression or anything. Next load TMPGEnc DVD Author. Select the files you want from both folders and then click on Begin Output. It will create a DVD compliant set of files and put them into a VIDEO_TS fodler. Next you can either compress or burn. hi

with this would it create a menu? or just play first film then next film in line after automatically?

or would it create a menu say with 2 items on it to click? say you want to watch the film at the end?

    Thx..

I've been using dvdxcopy sucessfully on many movies except for Das Boot. Would someone please explain slooower and with more detail how to sucessfully make a backup copy of Das Boot?

dvdxcopy says that it will fit on one dvd but then says it will not fit when the burn dvd button is pressed.

Rotary - sorry i forgot to reply to this over a month and a half ago, sorry :-( In relation to the queatin, which u probably already know the answer to by now, is yes, you can create a menu structure for the DVD. Visit the user guide in my sugnature!
