    - Used Verbatim DL +R, and I have a perfect burnning and read back rate.

    - Used Ritek DL +R (injet printable) Some of the disc after burn , it plays OK but it hang when I try to read back.

    - Used Ritek DL -R , I burn 5 of them and two of them are toasted.

Anybody know any good DL media besides Verbatim.

Depends on what part of the world you're from.... If you're in the US, I think that's about the scope of your choices. But on the other side of the pond Ricoh is rumored to have a good quality dual layer.... I say rumored, because I'm in the US as well and can't try any....

I did use TDK DVD+R DL which code out as RICOHJPN.They worked fine for me,i was using them to burn my xbox360 games and none has failed on me.I must say that the particular drive that my console has is very pricky about the media i have to use and the only available media i could get it to play was TDK,other brands were much worst. But now i've just got a spindle of 20 verbatim dual layer discs and i've finally stopped using TDK.I'm not saying that TDK is not good or very good, but it worked out pretty well with me and it's just me who has decided to use a much better brand that almost anyone is giving two thumbs up!

I've tried many brands and I still come back to Verbatim. I don't even bother with any others now. It seems no matter what the brand is or how good they work at 1st, eventually they all start messing up if they aren't Verbatim. BTW, I'm in the US.

Verbatim +R DL is the best DL disk by far. Nothing else comes close.

That is what I keep hearing unequivocally from the media gurus on forums like this one.

Ritek, which also produces RicohJPN, is making far more DL than Verbatim these days; and they are learning fast. Verbatim makes the "best" DL media, but that is because: 1) Mitsubishi invented the concept; 2) Mitsubishi had a jump on everyone else and first solved he bubble problem between layers; and 3) every DL drive uses Verbatim as a reference for DL. However, the enormous market share Ritek has been gaining and the manufacturing experience that goes with it has not been lost on the drive manufacturers; and more drives are supporting Ritek/Ricoh well. If that trend continues with inverse stack production, then Ritek will also have significant cost advantage there, too. Most of the DL playback problems these days are not due to insufficient firmware support rather than production inconsistencies, and that ratio made the switch about 9 months ago.
