any newer dvd drives that don't have riplock?

    If you're referring to ROMs then almost none of them are rip locked but burners are another story with Plextor being the only brand that will rip at full speed out of the box with factory firmware.

    so burners are rip locked? that's why mine only does like 5x and my sony rom drive does 15x.

    Forgot to mention that the 2X limit only applies to CSS protected discs.
