That all depends... Before I can help you, I need to know this first:

Do you own the game and still have both discs handy?

Well slap a moron sticker on my forehead and kick my shin, I always thought the PSX Vagrant Story was two... Who knew?

Anyway; here's a quick tutorial on what you'll need:

Here's a list of the things you need.
    ---------------------------------\
    I-Isobuster (or similar program)
    http://www.isobuster.com/dl.php?v=2&l=0

    II-Simple Popstation GUI
    (http://dl.qj.net/EBOOT-Tools-Utilities/pg/12/fid/12220/catid/192)
    ---------------------------------/

1- Install IsoBuster onto your computer. Run the program and click on the option to use the free functionality of IsoBuster.

2- Put Vagrant Story into the CD drive of your computer.

3- In the IsoBuster GUI, click on refresh. Right click on the top icon (most likely labeled CD) of the left pane and scroll over "Extract CD <Image>".

4- Click on "RAW (*.BIN, *.ISO)". Save the file as Vagrant Story.iso (There is not an option to save it as an .iso, but by adding .iso to the end of the title, it'll save it as one.)

5- Sit back and wait for the CD to extract.

(After you're done extracting the iso, it'll ask you to save a .cue file. Even though it's unnecessary, just hit save and you can trash it later.)

6- Download and open up Simple Popstation GUI.

7-Under "PSX Image File", browse for and select your Vagrant Story.iso file.

8-Under "Output Folder", create a folder on your desktop and label it Vagrant Story; use it as the output folder.

    [Optional]

You can create your own background and icon for the game. If you don't know much about photo editing, I suggest you ignore this step; however, it is good to perform this so that you can identify which game you are opening in your PSP.

All you really need are 2 photos being:

A 144px by 80px picture, used as the icon.

A 480px by 272px picture, used as the background.

I just google image search for good backgrounds and resize them to the above dimensions using Photoshop or Gimp and save them as a .PNG file.

If they are not saved as a .PNG, they won't be recognized.

After you have the two pictures, go back to Simple Popstation GUI and click on "Customize the Eboot (+)".

-Under the first/top box (ICON0.PNG), use your 144x80 picture.
Example (Feel free to use this one):

-Under the third box (PIC1.PNG), use the 480x272 picture.
Example (Again, feel free to take it):

    Everything else is unnecessary.

    [END Optional]

9- In the Simple Popstation, click on GO and it will generate two files, an EBOOT.PBP and a KEYS.BIN, both are necessary so keep them both in the folder.

10- After it is finished, it will ask if you want to put the game on your PSP, if you have it handy and connected to your computer, go ahead and click on yes. If you don't, just copy the Vagrant Story folder to PSP->Game in your memory stick later.

    -------

I performed this process myself while writing this guide and know that it worked for me; here's to hoping that it helps you. :)

I've been trying to use Popstation since I discovered this thread this morning, but so far, it keeps telling me "Game ID is invalid (according to Popstation"

I'm not really keen on the lingo, so what, precisely, is the program trying to tell me?

EDIT: Nevermind, I looked up a wikipedia entry for it, and determined that I am, in fact, an idiot :p

For those who are, like myself, a little slow on the uptake, the ID is listed on the side of the jewel case the game came in :p

    Thanks Enigma!

I have a question: Do you need a homebrew or something on your PSP before you do any of this or just the correct version firmware? I just bought a PSP (The limited edition FF one from Japan). I'm not quite sure what Firmware it is but I'd like to figure out how to put FF7/8 on it! Thanks for the help.
