Yesterday I installed a new Hard Drive and placed the cables in rubbish positions. I eventually found that one cable was leaning on the CPU fan and stopping it spinning, causing the CPU to overheat and shutdown. After tidying the cables and letting it all cool down overnight I switched it on this morning. I noticed that it’s been running hotter than what I thought. It seems to reach 51°c after about 5 minutes of Prime95 (on the Blend option). Do you think this is to Hot?

EDIT: Its the older Socket 939 Type.

I have Socket 939 motherboard with an AMD dual core 4600+ CPU, an it runs at 43 degrees C, no matter how long the computer is running. Yours seems a little high, but I don't think not too high.

Just a thought, could it be the Thermal Compound a load of rubbish/dried up (Heatsink, Fan & Thermal Compound are all stock). I've only had it 6 months though.
