Is Windows XP geared to take advantage of 64 bit processors? I guess a whole new set of Operating Systems and programs will come out? (Read about the DivX thing on the main page)

I think that Windows 2003 will be able to handle the 64 bit processors. But Linux has had version that run on 64 bit for over a year now. There version for Red Hat I heard is good.

M$ is working on AMD64 version of both XP and 2k3, and are propably released around 1H 04. (beta versions already available for MSDN subscribers) There are some 64-bit versions of linux, not sure how many are ported to AMD64. Red Hat and couple others, if I remember correctly, has beta version out.
