I got these videos from kazaa which said .avi as the extension in the end. After downloading the audio didnt sync with the video, it didnt match. I checked the properties of the file, and it says"Audio Format: Mpeg Layer3. Video Compression: DivxMpeg4 V3"

I'm new to this video encoding stuff.
I have both TMPGenc and VirtualDub.
How do i fix this problem? Please any help would be appreciated......

Does the audio go out of synch gradually? For example its in synch in the beginning but later the audio starts to go faster or slower than the video. Or is the audio desynched for the same period of time throughout the movie?

If audio desynch is gradual, the easiest method is to use a program called avifixed to correct the problem. Remember to make a backup of the movie before using avifixed since avifixed sometimes outputs unplayable files.
    http://www.divx-digest.com/software/avifix.html

Example: Audio is 4 seconds late throughout the movie.

You can fix this with virtualdubmod.
    http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdubmod/VirtualDubMod_1_5_4_1_All_inclusive.zip?download

    Load movie in virtualdubmod.

Go to streams menu, click stream list.

Right click audio file and select Intereleaving.

Fix audio by changing values under audio skew correction.

We are working with milliseconds here so
    1000ms =1 second.
    Audio desynch is 4 seconds so 4 x 1000 =4000

    Enter 4000.

Remember: if the audio is playing too late use negative values.

if audio is playing too early use positive.

Go into video menu and select Direct Stream Copy.

    Save avi.

heres to make you understand a little better

[bold]so thats an film that been encoded with microsoft mpeg 4 codec which is the V3 and the sound is the mp3 encoded version of the hacked fraunhofer[/bold]

sometimes that can result of bad encoding or a bad key frame in the movie that coses a delay in the whole movie, or it could be a low cpu support that strugles to get enough power to run the decoder and play the movie a bit slower than the sound
